Alejandro Miranda Jimenez, MS, Board Chair
Biotechnology Engineer

Alejandro, “Alex” is a results driven Biotechnology Engineer who is passionate about innovation and optimization, particularly as a project manager where his high quality standards make him a stand-out professional in validation programs and strategies. Alex considers himself to have an entrepreneurial spirit, which is shown in his willingness to start-up and lead projects and initiatives. Currently he is a Senior Validation Engineer at Grifols Diagnostics Solutions in Emeryville and has over 10 years of experience as a professional engineer. He holds a BS degree from the Technology Institute of Sonora, Mexico and an MS from CIAD (in English: Research Center for Food and Development) in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

Rafael Hernandez, MPA, Secretary
Associate Director, Read to Me Project

Rafael has worked in a wide range of fields since he was a teenager which include being an auto mechanic, a construction worker, a librarian, a production/camera assistant in the film industry, a grade school teacher, a tax credit consultant, a small business owner, and a simultaneous interpreter for social justice organizations which include the National Domestic Workers Alliance and Mujeres Unidas y Acitvas. He worked five years in Japan as an educator, interpreter, and liaison between the South American immigrant community and Japanese public officials interpreting between Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and English. Over the two-year course of his graduate studies he worked on various research projects in five countries on three continents utilizing a mixed methods approach. He served as a consultant to local and international organizations, was a volunteer teacher for at risk youth, and served as a software consultant to students, faculty and staff. Currently at Read to Me Project, he works with immigrant families and partners with various organizations all over the Salinas Valley implementing an early childhood education program. Being the son of a Latina immigrant and the first in his family to graduate from high school, Rafael developed a conviction that socioeconomics, gender or immigration status should not determine a person’s access to a quality education nor to live a life with security and dignity. Rafael earned an MPA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and a BA from the University of California at Berkeley.

Sarah Picker, Treasurer
Professional Engineer

Sarah is a professional engineer working in infrastructure project delivery and construction.  She was employed for over twenty five years as a Senior Engineer by the State of California where work efforts included project delivery of permits to regulate hazardous waste facilities, creating and implementing a marketing plan to increase participation of minority, disabled veteran and small businesses in multi-billion dollar construction contracts and managing a design unit that prepared engineering plans, specifications and estimates.  Currently, she is self-employed as an engineering consultant and rental housing provider.  

Neha Gupta, Fundraising Chair
Principal and Founder, Belly Fire Branding

Neha founded Belly Fire Branding in 2009 to bring the same branding and marketing expertise that large companies have at their fingertips to mission-driven social enterprises and nonprofits.  With over 15 years of marketing experience, Neha began her marketing career in brand management supporting and developing major household brands such as Dove, Vaseline and Clorox. Neha is passionate about the use of business as a tool to lift low-income individuals out of poverty and has a special focus on social enterprise marketing. Neha earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BA from Stanford University.

Elena Fairley, Member
Director of Partner Management, Mission Asset Fund

Elena has a diversity of experience in fields ranging from public policy and advocacy to grassroots economic development and social enterprise. Notably, she worked at Prospera for three years in a variety of roles, ultimately serving as Prospera’s Learning & Partnerships Director.  She currently works at Mission Asset Fund, where she continues her passion for advancing financial inclusion and economic empowerment. In this role, she manages the organization’s network of nonprofit partners that offer Lending Circles, a credit-building, zero-interest loan product. Elena graduated from Colorado College with a degree in International Political Economy.

Ray Schreiber, Member
Product Marketing Director, Wind River

Ray has spent the past 23 years working in both the technology and automotive fields. His experiences range from corporate business planning, product marketing and engineering roles at large Fortune 500 companies to technology start-ups. He is passionate about Prospera’s charter of creating business opportunities for low-income women. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Cornell University.

Guadalupe Monsterrat Guerrero, Member
Marketing and Communications Manager

Monste is an enthusiastic and versatile Marketing and Communications Manager with nine years of experience managing luxury brands as well as retail products and services. She has international project management expertise and is tri-lingual, being able to speak English, Spanish (mother tongue), and French. She has provided comprehensive mentorship and ongoing support to the sales and marketing teams by empowering them to fulfill their potential and positively contributing to the company’s bottom line. Most recently, since November 2013, Monste coordinated and conducted qualitative studies for Juan Valdez Café in collaboration with Unfinished Sentence in the USA, Colombia and Mexico identifying key leverages recruit millennial Hispanic consumers. She led the agency team in charge of the Juan Valdez Café brand experience including key messages and brand strategy, store redesign, product packaging redesign, and local market adaptations. In addition, she led design and architecture teams to generate store-by-store design adaptations to re-launch brand experience in five international markets-Colombia, Bolivia, USA (Miami), Malaysia, and Korea. Also coordinated design and digital teams to ensure setup and launch of social media properties.
