“They want to bury us, but they don’t know we are seeds.”

Dear Prospera community,

I know that many of us are feeling fear, anger, and uncertainty about what is happening in this country with this anti-immigrant wave that hurts us deeply. I feel it too. And I want to tell you, with all my heart, that we are not alone. We have each other, and that is power.

At times like this, it is important not to panic, because that is exactly what they want to sow: fear. Let’s take a breath. Let’s take calm and strategic action. Let’s confirm information before sharing it, keep the numbers of people or institutions that can help us handy—and memorize them—and use our privilege if we are fortunate enough not to be directly targeted by this persecution.

What we are experiencing is an invasion. It is wrong, it is unjust, and yet we will carry on. We have done it before and we will do it again, with courage, solidarity, and love.“They want to bury us, but they don’t know we are seeds.”

Let’s take care of each other.

Let us embrace each other with words, with presence, with actions.

We are not alone.

With all my love and commitment,

Claudia Arroyo

Executive Director at Prospera
