Dear community members,
As we bid farewell to another year, one marked by the poignant ache for the loss of many innocent lives, we want to remember them, honor them, and embrace each of the families affected. In the face of adversity, we strive to share the uplifting moments and treasures that have illuminated our journey. As we reflect on the year’s passage, let us collectively honor the memories of the departed, find solace in unity, and embrace the resilience that propels us forward into a new chapter.
Celebrating is crucial in the face of many injustices around us, as it serves as a way to recharge and continue planting seeds of change, equality, and joy for 2024. That’s why, at Prospera, as the year wraps up, we remind ourselves that everything comes with its burdens and gifts. As the year comes to an end, we want to share the gifts we received during 2023.
Our organization’s commitment to serving the community has resulted in significant achievements and milestones, made possible by the unwavering support of our community. I am excited to take this opportunity to share these updates and celebrate the collective successes of Prospera.
- More than 250 Latina entrepreneurs have been impacted by our programs through our workshops, courses, and events.
- 12 incredible participants are currently supported in Acompaña, a program aimed at entrepreneurs whose projects are at advanced stages, and that offers more advanced business workshops, office hours, and technical assistance with consulting experts and Prospera staff to support entrepreneurs in getting their businesses to the next level.
- We welcomed two new fellows, Stephanie Segovia, founder of Steph Brews Coffee, a coffee business, and Pilar Rengifo, founder of The Choclo, a gluten-free and Colombian cheese bread baked goods venture, who continue advancing their projects and paving the way for the other participants.
- 150 participants attended our community events, which we celebrated in person for the first time after 3 years. These events were full of inspiration and connection; we celebrated International Women’s Day and the Cumbre for Latina Entrepreneurs.
- We continued joining forces with the coalition, Levantando Nuestras Voces, and celebrated our Mercadito Virtual, where 13 entrepreneurs were given a platform to present their products, services, and the stories behind their businesses and cooperatives. Our Mercadito Virtual had more than 500 views through our Facebook Live broadcasts.
- Our family has grown to 11 members! We welcomed Ana Castaño and Tania Figueroa as Entrepreneur Success Coordinators, and Estefanía Cardona as Impact and Systems Manager. We are so excited to have such incredible women and professionals who contribute to maintaining Prospera’s “Little Flame”.
- Prospera participated in the celebration of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month on GMA3: What You Need To Know. It was an honor for me to embrace my story and proudly represent our amazing community of Latina entrepreneurs on national television.
These achievements are not just milestones for Prospera, but remarkable steps to change our narrative as a community that thrives every day transforming our families, communities, and society. The ripple effect of these accomplishments will be felt for years to come. We extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our valued community members, for your dedication, trust, and unwavering commitment to our shared goals.
As we look to the future, our commitment to serving the community remains stronger than ever. In the coming year, we plan to expand our programs to reach more entrepreneurs in need, engage more funders and donors, and explore new opportunities that will uplift the power of our community. We are excited to invite you to be an active part of this journey! Your input, support, and involvement are invaluable in shaping the path ahead.
Please help us to raise $100,000 before December 31st! Dreams are Possible with love in action! Thanks for your trust and support! Together, we are unstoppable.
In solidarity,
Claudia and Prospera’s team
