- Día de la Mujer: Mujer, historia, voz y sueños (International Women’s Day: Woman, stories, voice, and dreams) event.
On March 27th, in honor of International Women’s Month, Prospera celebrated the incredible women in our community with our second annual International Women’s Day event, this year themed, Mujer: Historia, Voz y Sueños (Woman: Stories, Voice, and Dreams). Held at Uptown Station in Oakland, CA, 77 participants gathered for an evening filled with connection, inspiration, and creativity. Our event offered opportunities for creating, connecting, and networking and included activities such as meditative practices, crocheting, art creation, poetry writing, and clay modeling. The event fostered meaningful connections and artistic expression, and even culminated in a vibrant communal art piece. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and invite you to join our upcoming event, our annual Summit, this fall. Check out our video recap and share in the magic!

The coalition Raising our Voices, led by Prospera and other community organizations, organized our third Virtual Marketplace on May 21st, 2024. This event featured amazing Latina entrepreneurs and the stories behind their businesses while showcasing their unique products and services via Zoom. Attendees had the opportunity to get to know various Latina entrepreneurs from the Bay Area, discovering new businesses and exclusive offerings. On May 24th, 2024, Prospera hosted an inspiring live episode of the Para Todas Podcast via Zoom. Claudia Arroyo, our Executive Director, engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with Daphne Rizzo, a participant in Prospera’s Vuela program and founder of Pro-Realty Eco Cleaning Solutions. The episode, “The Art of Seeing Life,” explored how life’s challenges can be transformed into opportunities. Along with Daphne’s powerful testimony, we also heard from other Prospera community members who resonated with Daphne’s story and contributed their own experiences to the conversation. Our podcast is a Spanish-first storytelling platform that aims to amplify the voices of Latina immigrants, creating a space where women validate, uplift, and identify with each other. This event was an engaging and enlightening experience, fostering meaningful conversations and reminding us of the power we each hold within. Check out the full episode here.
- Graduation celebration (Planea tu negocio & Explora)
On June 27, 2024, in Oakland, Prospera hosted an event to celebrate the amazing entrepreneurs who completed our courses Planea tu negocio (Business Plan) and Explora (Explore). Participants shared their experiences from the courses, learned about each other’s businesses, and were able to foster connections with other participants. Graduates were also able to learn more about the next steps within Prospera, providing a pathway for continued growth and support. We are still elated by this joyous event and hope to share some of the magic with you through a short video captured of the event.
