We have had an eventful beginning to the year—it’s hard to believe it’s only been three months. As we reflect on this short time, we would like to share the good and the not-so-good, but above all, we want to celebrate our incredible community. Entrepreneurs, donors, and allies have shown unity in difficult times, reaffirming that we are strong, supportive, and committed to ensuring a just future for all.
This first quarter has brought us great achievements and setbacks that have strengthened us, challenging us to push forward with even more determination.
The Good
- Explora Course: Sowing the Future
Our Explora course is in full swing with an inspiring group of around 50 participants who are sowing the seeds for their future businesses. We’re excited to see them flourish! - New Acompaña Cohort. This cohort starts with great energy, supporting entrepreneurs with essential tools and mentorship. In this blog, we introduce you to its members. We wish them great success!
- Celebrating “Radical Love” on International Women’s Day
We gathered to celebrate our participants and reaffirm that entrepreneurship with love is a revolutionary act. The space was filled with magic and camaraderie! Take a look and experience the magic. - Prospera Communities
- Expanding Our Programs
Thanks to our collaboration with the Allensworth Progressive Association, our team traveled to Tulare County, CA (south of Fresno, CA) to bring our programs and provide the tools and support needed to launch a childcare cooperative. Four founders are embarking on this social and cultural enterprise, benefiting themselves, their families, and their community. Another step forward on their entrepreneurial journey!
- Expanding Our Programs
- A New Office on the Way!
We’re preparing our new home—your home. We’re thrilled to create a space where the community can feel welcome. We look forward to your visit! More details coming soon.
The Not-so-good
- Loss of Funding
We want to share an important update: we have lost $500,000 in funding from a foundation in the tech sector, which directly impacts our programs and community. However, we refuse to take a step back. While this has been a tough hit, we are already mobilizing, and the response from our collaborators and donors has been positive and hopeful.
Still, we need more support to recover this loss and avoid cutting our programs. We know that together, we can overcome this challenge. Your support is essential!
Now, more than ever, we are calling our supporters to act!
If you’re part of a foundation or organization that aligns with our mission, we’d love to join forces. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in our community during these challenging times. Let’s explore how we can collaborate! Get in touch with Claudia Arroyo, Prospera’s Executive Director – claudia@prosperacoops.org.
