Dear community,
During the month of April we had the opportunity to experience two very special moments: our staff retreat and our board retreat, together with some allies. Both meetings were essential to strengthen ties, align the vision and continue building from the community. We share with you a little of what we experienced:
Prospera Team Retreat
During our retreat, the Prospera staff took the time to reconnect with our purpose, share learnings and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a team. It was an opportunity to look honestly at ourselves, dream big and renew our commitment.
One of the most inspiring moments was our visit to ALAS (Ayudando Latinos a Soñar). This incredible organization works with the Latino community in Half Moon Bay and surrounding areas. Veronica Rodriguez, their Development Director, guided us through their programs, we met some of the team, had in-depth conversations and closed the visit with a beautiful art project. Connecting with organizations that share our values and love of community is essential to building the collective power we believe in.
The retreat was full of connection, creativity and planning together. We returned to our roots, cried, laughed, created art and shared from the heart. It was not just a retreat but a true gathering of sisterhood and shared power. We left deeply inspired, remembering that love is the way to flourish.
Board of Directors’ Retreat
This second meeting generated spaces for deep dialogue, strategic planning and co-creation. The conversations flowed closely, especially around fundraising strategies and how, through collaboration, we can take Prospera to a new level in a context full of challenges.
We were also joined by people allied with the desire to join efforts, strengthen the community and open new perspectives to imagine and build the future together. Their presence was deeply valuable: they brought vision, energy and a genuine commitment to our shared mission.
It was essential for the team to feel that they were not alone in navigating this complex stage. The accompaniment of our allies–organizations and individuals–gave us strength, support, confidence and hope. It reaffirmed the certainty that, in community, it is possible to move forward with shared vision and commitment.
