It was my first time attending a San Francisco Giants game. And for a few minutes that evening, Prospera took center stage—right there on the field during Mexican Heritage Night.
When this opportunity came up, I asked myself: who is one of the very best ambassadors we have at Prospera? Someone who knows us, believes in our mission, and whom we’ve had the privilege of supporting for many years.
I immediately thought of Nancy Rosales, founder of Pepitos Paletas, a Prospera participant, former Fellow, and member of our Board of Directors. And of course, with Nancy, there’s always a surprise.
She was the perfect choice—not only because she represented Prospera beautifully, but also because she turned out to be the best possible companion for a baseball game. She knew every rule, every strategy. I spent the entire game following her lead as she walked me through each play and explained everything that was happening on the field.
At some point between innings, it hit me: this is exactly how we move through the world at Prospera. We support one another. We teach one another. Every one of us has something to share, in ways both big and small.
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing several Prospera participants there with their families, enjoying the experience together. For some of them, just like for me, it was also their very first Giants game.
Oh—and it was also a treat to meet Rodolfo Neri Vela, the first astronaut born in Mexico to travel to space, as well as Hernán Hernández of Los Tigres del Norte.
I want to thank the entire San Francisco Giants team for welcoming us, for partnering with us, and for helping introduce Prospera to a stadium full of pride on such a meaningful night for our community.
