Prospera is excited to add a new Development Grants and Systems Manager that will partner with the Director of Development to support with fundraising efforts.

The Development Grants and Systems Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing Prospera’s fundraising capabilities by overseeing grant management and ensuring efficient systems are in place for tracking and reporting on funding opportunities. This role involves researching funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, maintaining relationships with funders, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The Fund Development & Grants Manager will also assist with other fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and event planning.
Key responsibilities:
Grant Writing & Proposal Development:
- Research and identify prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Develop, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals and letters of inquiry, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and funding requirements.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather the necessary data and programmatic details for inclusion in proposals.
- Create and maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports.
- Evaluate and incorporate feedback from funders on past proposals to continuously improve future submissions and enhance funding success rates.
Grant Management & Reporting:
- Oversee the grant management process, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements.
- Track and monitor grant performance, including spending and programmatic deliverables, to ensure alignment with funder expectations.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports to funders, including financials and narrative updates on funded projects.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all grant activity, correspondence, and funding outcomes.
Fund Development:
- Work closely with the Director of Development to create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
- Assist in developing annual fund development goals, with an emphasis on increasing revenue from grants.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and prospective funders, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with other staff on development efforts, including individual donor campaigns and major gifts.
- Conduct regular evaluations of grant-funded projects to assess their impact and effectiveness, providing recommendations for improvements and future funding opportunities.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:
- Assist in identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective donors, in coordination with the development team.
- Support donor engagement strategies through written communications, thank-you letters, and impact reports.
- Maintain and update the donor database with accurate records of grant funders and individual donor information.
- Organize and facilitate donor appreciation events and activities to strengthen relationships and foster community among current and prospective donors.
Event Planning & Fundraising Campaigns:
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns as needed.
- Assist in securing sponsorships and in-kind donations for events and programs.
- Collaborate on special campaigns, including capital campaigns, annual giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising events and campaigns post-execution, analyzing metrics and feedback to improve future efforts.
Data Management & Analysis:
- Maintain donor database—Salesforce, including entering data, running reports, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information, and organizing and maintaining department files.
- Track and analyze fundraising metrics, providing insights on performance to improve strategies.
- Maintain a database of funder profiles, grant deadlines, submission statuses, and outcomes.
- Monitor and report on fundraising trends to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the development team to translate data insights into actionable strategies, ensuring that fundraising efforts are continuously informed by data-driven decisions.
Collaboration & Cross-functional Support:
- Collaborate with program, finance, communications, and outreach teams to ensure cohesive communication and alignment in fundraising strategies.
- Provide cross-functional support for various organizational initiatives, especially where fundraising is concerned.
- Facilitate regular meetings or workshops with cross-functional teams to share insights, best practices, and feedback on fundraising initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications, Qualities, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing, journalism, English, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, fund development, or nonprofit fundraising.
- Professional writing skills with the ability to quickly create grants
- Bilingual (English & Spanish); must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and proactively manage multiple, sometimes competing, tasks and projects.
- Ability to work independently, remotely, and as part of a team.
- Committed to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Extremely flexible, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Team-centered and collaborative
- Willingness to learn about, and co-create an alternative leadership model that is aligned with our cooperative values.
- Knowledge of nonprofit financials and experience preparing grant budgets.
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM a strong plus
- Grant management experience is a plus.

Employment & Benefit Details
- Compensation: Starting at 71K commensurate with experience
- Hours: Schedule to be agreed upon but FTE work hours are M-F 9-5:30 and Fridays 9-1:00 when not working remotely. Some nights and weekends might be needed to work.
- Location: Currently we are working remotely with monthly in-persona staff meetings in Oakland. Additionally, Prospera has various in persona program events throughout the year that this role might be expected to attend
- Time Off:Commensurate with 100% FTE Prospera offers: 4 weeks paid vacation a year + 9 holidays + 10 Mental Health Days, 4-long weekends, 1 weeks of collective vacation in the summer and 1 collective week of vacation in the winter and one sick day per month.
- Sick Time: One day per month
